Information Literacy with emphasis on the use of digital information sources

DEPARTMENT OF PEDAGOGY AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION

Evangelia Bougatzeli is a graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Faculty of Philosophy and has a MA in Library and Information Studies from the Robert Gordon University, U.K.
For 3 years she taught at the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (Department of Library Science and Information Systems, courses: Collection Development and Management, Methods of Research).
She was also responsible for the retrospective cataloguing of AUTH’s collections within the project “Modernization of AUTH’s Library System.
As teacher personnel of the School of Philology, Faculty of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she taught laboratory courses for the exploitation of information sources in research and teaching and she was also responsible for the Classical Studies Library of the School.
Since 2010 she teaches in the School of Primary Education, Faculty of Education at AUTH (laboratory course: “Information literacy and the exploitation of information sources”). She also supports the functions of the Faculty of Education Library, especially those concerning with library’s reference and education services.
Since October 2012 she is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Primary Education at AUTH (research topic: “The Web as literacy practice: strategies for the exploitation of web literacy aspects concerning teacher education and school practices”).

Research interests: information literacy, multiliteracies, new literacies with emphasis on web literacy, critical pedagogy, pedagogy of inclusion, educating teachers in critical web literacy.
