DEPARTMENT OF PEDAGOGY AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION

Dimitris Zachos was born and raised in Nigrita, Serres.
He studied in the Pedagogical Academy of Heraklion, the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education (PDPD) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the Teachers Training School Dimitris Glinos of PDPE - AUTH.
He completed his doctoral dissertation in the same department (PDPE – AUTH) and its subject was the educational and social integration of a Roma community.
He worked as a teacher, Principal and School Counselor in primary education.
From 2006 onwards, he has taken part as instructor – educator in various programs for educators in primary and secondary education that were organized by the Pedagogical Institute, the Organization for the Training of Educators and the Regional Training Centers.
From 2011 till now he is working as a lecturer in Aristotle’ s University of Thessaloniki.

His scientific interests during this period focus on topics relating to:
1. Equality and social justice in education (especially ethnic and minority education)
2. The microcosm of school
3. Educational research
