Η έρευνα διαλέγεται με τις αντίστοιχες βρετανικές και αμερικάνικες κοινωνικές έρευνες οι οποίες
εξετάζουν τον τρόπο με τον οποίο η ανάγνωση ως κοινωνική πρακτική εμφανίζεται τοπικά και
συσπειρώνει τον κοινωνικό ιστό γύρω από τους χώρους στους οποίους διενεργείται. Αφού κάνει μια
επισκόπηση των μορφών της από κοινού ανάγνωσης στον ελλαδικό χώρο πριν και μετά τη συγκρότηση
του εθνικού κράτους, εστιάζει στη σύγχρονη έκφανσή της, τις λέσχες ανάγνωσης. Διαπιστώνοντας ότι
στην Θεσσαλονίκη το φαινόμενο των λεσχών έλαβε αξιόλογη διάσταση, εξετάζει τον τρόπο λειτουργίας
τους και αναφέρεται στους μηχανισμούς συγκρότησης της ταυτότητάς τους ανάλογα με τον φορέα ο
οποίος τις φιλοξενεί. Επίσης στέκεται στην Διεθνή Έκθεση Βιβλίου Θεσσαλονίκης και συζητά τον τρόπο
με τον οποίο η διοργάνωση αυτή αποτελεί θεσμό που συμβάλλει στην συνάντηση των αναγνωστών με
τα βιβλία αλλά και μεταξύ τους, γεγονός το οποίο ενίσχυσε την παρουσία των λεσχών και την άνθισή
τους στην πόλη.
