The School of Primary Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was established according to Law 1268/82 (the Law for National Higher Education). This way, the demand for offering higher education to primary school teachers, a demand that had been an issue of heated debates among radical, social, and educational forces for almost fifty years, was satisfied.
The School of Primary Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki operated for the first time in the academic year 1986-87, after the Presedential Decree 320/83 came into force.
The School of Primary Education and the School of Preschool Education Sciences constitute the Faculty of Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
