Vasileios Alexiou studied at the University of Athens (B.A. in Law and B.A. in Philology).
He continued with postgraduate studies at the University of Münster (Germany) and at the University of Salamanca (Spain) where he presented his Ph.D. thesis on Comparative Literature after he was granted a scholarship by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation.
He has worked as a philologist for many years in secondary education.
Since 2002 he has been teaching in the Faculty of Education (School of Primary Education) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the Department of Social and Cultural Studies on the module area of Theory of Literature.
Since 2013 he is a permanent assistant professor.
Except for the Theory of Literature, his research interests include Cultural Theory, Comparative Literature, Sociology of Literature and Modern Greek Studies.
